Please find below the entry forms for Trials Day. Please note there are two separate forms, one for new dogs starting trialing or in the process of obtaining their lure coursing licence, and a separate one for dogs that have licences and can be used as clearing partners. Please ensure you complete the correct form for the dog(s) you wish to enter.
For newcomers with Whippets and Italian Greyhounds, these breeds are separated into 2 categories, ‘standard’ and ‘sprinter’. This has nothing to do with the speed of the dog, it is categories for the height!
The maximum height at withers is for Whippet (standard) 51 cm for dogs, 48cm for bitches. The maximum of a whippet (sprinter) is 56cm for dogs, 52cm for bitches
The maximum height at withers is for Italian Greyhound (standard) 38 cm. The maximum of an Italian Greyhound (sprinter) is 41cm.
All whippets and Italian Greyhounds are measured officially prior to licences being issued, however we ask all triallers to use their best estimate when entering so we can assure the appropriate partner dog is used during any paired trial.

Due to the earlier date for Team entry deadline being received by the WCC organisers, the procedure for joining Team UK has been altered from invitation to application. This means that instead of invitations being sent to the top qualifiers after the Spring Championships and then spaces being opened to reserves, those hoping for a place on the Team will now be required to apply in advance.
The same points system as used previously will still be used to determine from the applications which dogs will be allocated a position. The League Table showing current points can be seen here https://uksighthoundsport.com/team-uk-2024-qualifier-points
Please remember, Spring Championships will be the final qualifier and opportunity to gain points. Winners of the National Championships 2023 automatically qualify, but owner’s will still need to complete the application form to claim the place.

On 29th June UKSS Team UK took 22 dogs to Kristianstad, Sweden for the World Coursing Championships.
Amongst the team everyone had their own travel routes. Some took a longer journey to take in sightseeing, holidays, breed shows or other coursing events but all finally came together at the venue to celebrate the opening ceremony of this epic event.
18 nations ran 809 hounds over 4 different courses during the 5 day competition and Team UK had some amazing successes, punching well above our weight for such a small entry.
UK dogs scooped podium prizes in 5 categories including first place in CSS Saluki mixed and Galgo Español mixed. It was a poignant moment at the nightly awards ceremony as the Union Jack flag was raised to ‘God Save the King’.
In other classes, such as CACIL Salukis, achieving a high place in a field of 60 entries was an enormous achievement and celebrated by the team.
There were lows too of course with vetting issues and a phenomenal whippet run followed by withdrawal due to injury.
What was most uplifting was the goodwill from UKSS members following the event from home, and team support which was fantastic; cheering on every high and sharing the disappointments. Laughter, tears, hugs, puppy-cuddles and high-fives… it was exactly what a team should be.
