Summer Trials Day & Championships 2025 – at Staffordshire County Showground in conjunction with the Houndshow
Staffordshire County Showground, Weston Road, Stafford, ST18 0BD,
Saturday and Sunday 19th-20th July 2025
ATTENDANCE CHARGE – If you have not got a dog entered into the Houndshow or one of the partner shows, you will be required to pay a fee of £5 per vehicle to enter the ground, unless you have booked camping. Cash only, please have cash ready.
CHAMPIONSHIP DAY – 20th July 2025
Entry opens Thursday 19th June at 7pm, for members only. (26th June for non-members.)
Closing date for entries at 17:00 on Friday 11th July, or when cap is reached.
NOT FOR COMPETITION – You must enter all dogs you will be bringing ‘not for competition’. Puppies under four calendar months of age are forbidden from attending.
When you submit your entry, you will be sent an automated confirmation, please check your junk files.

- Pre-booked trials will run in the morning, beginning at 9.30am and run across the morning. Pre-booked entries will get 2 runs where appropriate.
- Walk up / ‘have a go’ entries will be taken on the day from 1pm.
- Clearing trials cannot be guaranteed, if you are hoping for clearing please let us know on your entry form. Clearing trials are dependent on the availability of a suitable partner.
- Clearing partners – if you have a licenced dog that will be on site, please consider offering them as a partner, don’t forget that to get your dog’s licence, you relied on the generosity of other dogs and their owners to clear them! Licenced dogs used as a clearing partner run for free, so please pay it forward and complete the correct entry form to offer your dog!

Please find below the entry forms for Trials Day. Please note there are two separate forms, one for new dogs starting trialling or in the process of obtaining their lure coursing licence or experienced dogs needing further training, and a separate one for dogs that have licences and can be used as clearing partners. Please ensure you complete the correct form for the dog(s) you wish to enter.
For newcomers with Whippets and Italian Greyhounds, these breeds are separated into 2 categories, ‘standard’ and ‘sprinter’. This has nothing to do with the speed of the dog, it is categories for the height!
The maximum height at withers is for Whippet (standard) 51 cm for dogs, 48cm for bitches. The maximum of a whippet (sprinter) is 56cm for dogs, 52cm for bitches
The maximum height at withers is for Italian Greyhound (standard) 38 cm. The maximum of an Italian Greyhound (sprinter) is 41cm.
All whippets and Italian Greyhounds are measured officially prior to licences being issued, however we ask all triallers to use their best estimate when entering so we can assure the appropriate partner dog is used during any paired trial.

TEAM UK WCC 2025 APPLICATION
Due to the earlier date for Team entry deadline being received by the WCC organisers, the procedure for joining Team UK has been altered from invitation to application. This means that instead of invitations being sent to the top qualifiers after the Spring Championships and then spaces being opened to reserves, those hoping for a place on the Team will now be required to apply in advance.
The same points system as used previously will still be used to determine from the applications which dogs will be allocated a position. The League Table showing current points can be seen here https://uksighthoundsport.com/team-uk-2025-current-qualifier-points
Please remember, Spring Championships will be the final qualifier and opportunity to gain points. Winners of the National Championships 2024 automatically qualify, but owner’s will still need to complete the application form to claim the place.
